Opera for the people!

This year, The Scanian Opera brings La Traviata to Bosjökloster.

Set in a sparkling European 1960s, we meet Violetta – the undeniable center of every party, admired, independent, and surrounded by all of life’s temptations. When she falls in love with Alfredo, she chooses love over glamour. But society’s expectations and moral double standards soon catch up with her. For the sake of her family’s honor, she sacrifices everything – without revealing the truth. What remains are misunderstandings, pride, and a love that burns until the very last breath.

Food & drink

Before the performances, we serve lunch (Saturday) and supper (Friday evening from 5 pm), featuring ingredients from farms and forests across Skåne, along with the castle’s own cakes and pastries.

Our menu is not large but offers both larger and smaller dishes, as well as vegetarian and vegan options. Wine, beer, sparkling drinks, and a carefully selected range of non-alcoholic beverages are, of course, also available. We kindly recommend booking a table in advance.

The timeless drama

La Traviata is a timeless drama about passion, sacrifice, and the right to live one’s own life. In the Scanian Opera’s intimate interpretation, the audience comes so close that every glance, every breath, and every broken heart feels real. Verdi’s masterful music – with its swirling waltzes and piercing emotional outbursts – carries the story between euphoric celebration and desperate stillness. It is grand opera in chamber format: intimate, powerful, and irresistibly alive.
