Glass artist Amy Krüger moves in the borderland between the playful and the contemplative. Using glass as her medium of expression, she creates works that surprise and captivate — where form, light, and storytelling interact in an original visual world.
Her sculptures, made with both blown and sculpted glass, blend humor and seriousness. Light, form, and the material’s properties come together to spark unexpected associations. Behind the figurative, seemingly naïve motifs lies precise craftsmanship and a deep understanding of glass — its weight, lightness, fragility, and strength.
One of Amy’s most noted works is The Fish Bag, where a sculpted fish is enclosed in glass shaped like a plastic bag, showcasing her mix of technical skill and playful storytelling.
Born in 1987, Amy has worked with glass for over two decades. She trained at Kosta Glass Center and KADK Bornholm, and since 2017 she has been master glassblower at Orranäs Glassworks in Småland’s Kingdom of Crystal, running the studio together with Maria Rudström.
After a fire in 2023, the glass studio was rebuilt on the same historic site. Today it is both a production space and a visitor destination where craftsmanship, creativity, and encounters thrive.
— The limitless possibilities of glass fascinate me. I love shaping it and playing with its transparency and color to create something vivid and expressive, says Amy.
