Elegant ladies in beautiful dresses, swaying hats and carefully styled hair; powerful men in long, ermine-trimmed robes; exquisite plates and vases. This exhibition is a cherished return to Bosjökloster of the mother-daughter duo Elsi and Margareta Bourelius and their many years of ceramic artistry.
Since Bosjökloster began hosting art and craft exhibitions in the 1960s, Elsi – and later Margareta – have been behind several much-appreciated exhibitions in the castle’s historic rooms, most recently in 2010. Their production has since ceased, making this a unique opportunity to once again experience some of Margareta’s and Elsi’s most magnificent preserved works. All pieces are available for purchase.
Elsi’s passion for clothing and fashion is reflected in the finely dressed figures, just as Margareta’s deep knowledge and interest in glazes shines through. They worked together in harmony, each complementing the other. Their exquisite glazes, with perfect tones and variations, enhance the form and expression of every piece.
Elsi trained in ceramics at Konstfack (University of Arts, Crafts and Design) in Stockholm from 1929–1934. Margareta studied at the Ingenieur- und Werkschule für Keramik in Germany from 1964–1965.
