Finissage – “Unbreakable Patchwork”
Concert with Olga Kovalenko
Olga Kovalenko, a virtuoso domra player from Odesa, joins us at Bosjökloster in connection with the Ukrainian exhibition Unbreakable Patchwork.
Since 1 May, we have had the great privilege of presenting the exhibition’s 111 quilts – created by Ukrainian women and carrying stories of resilience, loss, hope and creativity. The exhibition continues until 30 September.
To mark the closing of Unbreakable Patchwork, we invite you to a special finissage concert on Sunday 27 September, when Olga Kovalenko will perform Ukrainian folk music on the domra.
A warm welcome to experience the music and the exhibition together during the final days of Unbreakable Patchwork at Bosjökloster.

Olga Kovalenko was born in 1989 in the small Ukrainian town of Ananiv and began attending music school at the age of six. At 14, she moved to Odesa to study the domra at the K.F. Dankevych Music College, where she studied from 2004 to 2008.
She continued her studies at the A.V. Nezhdanova Odesa National Academy of Music from 2008 to 2013, specialising in the domra at the Orchestra Faculty. Her teacher was Valentina Kirichenko, Honoured Artist of Ukraine.
Alongside her work as a freelance musician, Olga taught at a music school in Odesa for eleven years. She has also performed in a folk orchestra and as a bass player in a pop band, as well as regularly taking part in charity concerts for children in orphanages.
Following Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Olga was forced to leave Odesa on 8 March 2022 and seek refuge in Sweden.
Since then, she has given a number of well-received performances in Sweden as a solo artist. She also performs regularly with accordionist Irina Serotyuk, with whom she appears as a duo.
Olga is part of the residency programme for Ukrainian musicians initiated and run by Musikcentrum Öst and Musikcentrum Väst, with support from Postkodlotteriet and Stim, and in close collaboration with SWAN (Swedish Artist Residencies Network) and Artists at Risk.
